Turning the page on another year
I honestly had no real plans to celebrate things, what with the midterms coming up and scaring me! But taking a break seemed appropriate, so Carolen and I improvised in San Francisco's newest neighborhood, King Street by SBC Park. The place is so very nice and clean!

We went to the 21st Amendment brewery and restaurant and ordered up happy hour appetizers. Grilled calamari, fried onion rings and garlic fries! Then their beer. We tried it out again, hoping to act our age. And it was a good sign that I was not asked for identification. Ultimately, we both agreed that alcohol in general was not very tasty, and my lack of alcohol dehydrogenase did not help. Plus, they overcharged us by 50%, and we didn't realize it until later. Happy birthday!!
Explored Borders books a bit, and found some great books. I should read Ambient Findability.

We then ate a delicious scoop of cake batter ice cream mixed in with Oreo cookies. Carolen seems to enjoy Marble Slab Creamery better than Coldstone Creamery because it is not as excessively sweet.

Their Safeway is so clean that it was worth taking a photograph. It comes complete with beautiful cakes and a bakery, and it's right next to the train station.

We then took a ride on the Muni LRV's through downtown Market Street. I love their trains. We walked around the Apple Store gawking at their impossibly tiny iPod Nanos, and went to Cheesecake Factory for dessert.

Their apple dumpings are just like apple pie: they have a whole apple with caramel, brown sugar, and raisins inside, with a crispy sugary outer pastry crust.
This was all from Carolen, my sweetie. :)
